Saudi Arabia Imposes Temporary Visa Ban on 14 Countries, Including Pakistan and India, Ahead of Hajj Season

Saudi Arabia has put a temporary halt on issuing specific visas for 14 countries, including Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, as the Hajj season approaches. This suspension impacts Umrah, business, and family visit visas and is anticipated to remain in effect until mid-June.

The decision was implemented to manage the significant influx of individuals entering the country during this busy period. In recent years, some travelers have used these visa types to participate in Hajj without obtaining the necessary permissions or to seek employment unlawfully. This has led to overcrowding and posed challenges for local job markets.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this action aims to enhance safety and ensure more organized travel during the Hajj season. They also intend to guarantee that pilgrims access proper channels and do not impose additional stress on services and resources during this sacred time.

Travelers from the countries affected are warned against attempting to circumvent the regulations. Anyone discovered violating the updated guidelines may face severe repercussions, including a ban from entering Saudi Arabia for five years.

Nonetheless, this visa restriction is only temporary. Saudi officials have assured that standard visa processing will resume after mid-June, once the Hajj season concludes. Individuals planning to travel after that period can apply as they normally would.

This temporary measure is part of Saudi Arabia’s wider initiatives to enhance crowd management and security during significant religious occasions. It also aligns with the country’s Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to modernize travel systems while maintaining religious customs in a safe and respectful manner.
